Meet Honey Pierre
Can you tell everyone about yourself and the work you do?
Hey everyone my name is Honey Pierre I am a multi-disciplinary artist who practices in mediums such as paint, murals, product design, fiber art, and sculptures. I am originally from Cleveland, OH and now based in Atlanta, GA continuing my practice as an artist here.
What was the inspiration behind the piece you created for ARTE?
To embody the beauty of carrying our culture around in pride, referencing to a few tribes in East and South Africa such as Bakongo, Himba, and Zulu people.
What does stopping to smell the roses mean to you?
Stopping and smelling the roses to me is just enjoying life. Taking that time to show gratitude and to celebrate every win in life, even the simple things.
What’s one moment that seemed small at the time but turned out to be a pivotal moment in your life?
It was December of 2020 I was doing a mural for the Jon Ossoff campaign here in Atlanta and the women from my collective asked me if I was ready to make the shift in my career to go bigger. I obviously said, “Yes,” because I've been putting in the work and good intention into my practice. With that being said, I was offered my first partnership with Sweetgreen which has been opening doors for me and made me realize that anything can happen if you put your mind, faith, and hard work into it.
What’s your reason to explore?
I feel like it’s our duty in our lifetime to explore. To find our paths and walk in it fully without fear. Lately, I've been making it a priority to stay grounded and explore myself more. Finding out what I truly like, what communities fit me, keeping up with my spiritual health, and just learning to have fun again. As far creativity goes, I let the ideas flow to me and never force it.
